HOW TO MEASURE YOUR YACHT FOR A SAIL QUOTE

For a first quote for sails we generally only require the P / E and/or I / J measurements of your yacht, the type, make and weight of your yacht.

Alternatively, you can provide us with :

a)	the area of the sail (sq.m. or sq.ft.) and sailcloth weight and the type, length and weight of your yacht, or
b)	the dimensions of your existing or desired sail (luff / leech / foot or luff / LP).

It is always advantageous for us if you can supply us with the type and make of your yacht (and year of construction) and if you plan to use the yacht for offshore cruising or just local sailing and in which area.

MEASUREMENTS :

The basic measurements which we require are shown in Fig.1 and on our QUOTE MEASUREMENT SHEET and on the measurement sheets for each sail type.

P=	the height of the mast between the top of the boom to the mainsail halyard sheave / roller (or to the black band at mast top).
E=	The length of the boom from the back of the mast to the clew fitting in fully extended position (or to the black band on the boom end).
I=	The length from deck * (not cabin top) to the mast-top fitting of the headstay. (* please note that the deck level used in measure I, if the mast foot is located on the superstructure, is the continuous deck-line level from bow to stern).
J=	From front of mast to intersection of headstay and deck.

Py / Ey=	Are the equivalent measurements for the mizzen.
Is / Js=	Are the equivalent measurements for the staysail.
